Hello all – new guy here from Maryland and part time South Carolina

Interesting site and forum you have and easy to see that it is full of good information and ideas. I’ve been reviewing as much as possible for a few days before I made my #1 post.

Alittle about me …… I’ve been the Fleet Manager for second (third or fourth depending on who’s stats you’re reading) largest city in Maryland for the last 30 years. Basically spent my entire work career in a garage although not as a mechanic but as a manager. I did come up from the shop up though, starting at Sears Auto once I got out of the USN. ……… In addition to my work, I’ve had three homes in MD which I’ve built some form of workshop/garage at each. I also have a place I recently bought in Georgetown, SC and currently having two metal buildings installed next week. One will be a 24x65 workshop the other a 24x40 boat & carport.

I’m using Carolina Carports for both units – I KNOW, I’ve read much +/- about them on a few threads here. BUT, so far I’ve had a pretty positive experience dealing with the local dealer in Georgetown and also the actual manufacture folks. Next week will be the truth though I guess….. Fortunately, I have experience with metal building construction serving as the one of the project managers to my new shop at the city. Although small compared to many of the maintenance facilities, it’s still a nice size for a fleet of over 400. (230 x 81). And yes, far more substantial than a Carolina unit….. Bottomline, I did allot of research about low cost tubular steel buildings and confident that I can remedy any short comings there are with the units. Already planning modifications I’ll be making over the next couple of years thanks to this site.

Hoping to start a thread soon with many pictures as the project get into full gear. Thanks for your time and look forward to your input, suggestions, and ideas.
