Another garage makeover... (updated pictures)

After spending too much time looking at great garages here, I thought it was time to do something in my ordinary 2 car garage. So... after some paint and some striping, it looks like a different space. There is more to do, so I'll update with more pictures when I'm done. Special thanks to camarojoe from this board -- the vinyl tape worked great -- I could never get paint to look like this and to my brother for the design ideas.

Here are some pictures... signs were taken down and will be rearranged in the final pictures... (new pictures after post 9)

Before...

Here come the stripes... 3" blue vinyl, 1 1/2" painted white and 1 1/2" black vinyl...

I'm getting ready to paint mine, and was going to paint a red stripe around it, just above a gray lower wall. The vinyl seems like a good idea, and doesnt seem much more than paint anyway. I wonder how long it will hold up? How well did it actually stick? Also, if it lasts say 5 years, how hard will it be to get off then....

The tape sticks very well. It's the type where you peel off the backing. The only downside is it may be very hard to remove. I looked at so many pictures and kind of knew what I wanted. Be sure to experiment with colors, width and placement before you go ahead.

Looks really good! Is the wall underneath the vinyl striping textured or flat?

Good job!

Thanks! The wall is flat... the texture you see in the pictures is the paint texture left by the roller plus the fact that the vinyl is very glossy. Any texture seems to be exaggerated in the photos.

Nice Z8...any more pics?

Here's one of the car... only driven in nice weather...

That looks great - shows people that even your 2 car garage can be nice. You've given me some motivation - I've spent all year on the "shop", I guess I'll have to do up the garage next!

I love the look of your garage.

Matter of fact, your garage has inspired me. I've started to work on the drywall and plan to mimic your paint scheme. Now all I need to do is find the time to get it done.

Nice! I just ordered the tape, still not exactly sure what colors exactly, either doing lighter gray bottom and white top/ceiling or darker gray bottom and medium gray walls and white ceiling... i think ill go with flat ceiling and semi gloss the rest... i have to buy all the paint saturday
