Located in GA, wanted to post to see what you guys think:
Have two doors (one double, one single) and want to raise both tracks. Currently the gap to ceiling is 24", so I'm thinking raise the tracks 12-18". Of course as I educate myself about how the springs work and the fact they or the drums might need to change, is where I quickly see a professional needing to come over. I'm a handy person though, so I'd like to accomplish as much as possible myself. Current radius on the tracks are 12".
Today's quote:
- Liftmaster 8500: $625 installed per door
- Raise tracks: $425 per door
Looking around online, it looks like there's a website that sells a 2-pack of Liftmaster 8500's for $565 shipped. I may go this route; just need to find a better solution than $850 for raising the tracks some. A larger radius track looks like it'd work, but still have the problem of the springs.
