Another hammer from the farm. I never saw one with the extreme curve on the claws. Could possibly date back before 1930 if it was wife’s grandfather who had it.

Anyone seen this before?

Here is a 1926 Cheney catalog showing both ripping and claw hammers, you may only be used to ripping

Thx, I’ll look at this. As an electrician, I have generally used a ripping hammer. But I have used various claw hammers too, just never had one or saw one with such a sharp curve. I’m thinking it gives extra leverage for pulling nails. Haven’t tested it yet. Also hope to find a trademark when I get it cleaned up.

RTM, one of the Cheney & 1 of the Motorola look similar. Prices were amazing weren’t they? A dozen then for less than one today. But people earned a dollar a day back then too. 🤣

Born in 1938. Grew up in an agricultural town (small) in Michigan. All the hammers I saw looked like this (except roofing hatchets/hammers) . I thought all nailing hammers looked like this.
