Another HF cart thread!

OK, I have decided I am going to buy the HF cart.

I have the super coupon for the Black one for $99. I don't know if I will get to use my 20% off coupon but I will try if I do purchase this one. So I am looking at $99 + tax or $79.99 + tax if they let me use the coupon. Both prices are great deals.

I also have the ad for the Red one for $189.99 + my 20% coupon which will leave the price at about $151.99 + tax which looks like a great deal.

I am leaning towards the red car but want to ask you folks out there which you prefer and why? And if there is someone who has both, your opinion of the two would be great. I have checked out the carts and I believe that both would suit my needs. I think the red one might be a little better. Does it warrant the $50?

My back up plan is to get the red one and save the super coupon and get the black one later if I so desire/need it.


Also does anyone have a better coupon for the red one that has not expired yet?

just photo copy the super coupon. i do it all the time.

Get the red one if you can. I have the black one. It is nice, but wish I had had the $$$ for the black one. Can't go wrong with either for the $$$$. Both will serve you well.

Go for the red one. I bought two on sale, they are well built and heavier duty than the black one. The krinkle finish turns people off but if you are anything like me a prefer function over looks the red one is great. I find cleaning the red one with an air hose for dust and wipe id down with a damp rag does just fine. I don't need a bunch of shinny things in my garage, just need them to work for their intended purpose.

I was in your same postion a week or so ago. I went to buy the Black one which I think is a deal for $100. I held off once I saw the Red one. Then I researched reviews on the Red one from here which turned out to be just as good quality with several more features than the Black one. As far as best price goes; If you can hold out 5 weeks or so and if I'm reading the flyers right, the "Tent Sale" Aug 27-29 will plaace the red cart on sale without any coupon for $149.99. With 20% coupon it will then be around $120 before tax and you dont have to try to double coupon it.

I bought the black one because my store was out of the red one. The black one is nice dont get me wrong, but as soon as they had the red one I sold the black one to one of the guys at work and got the red one.

Get the red one.. I was going to get the black one but the quality doesnt seem up to par to the red one. I know they are both HF products but the way the metal is bent and put together on the black one seems a bit flimsy. The red car is power coated.. the black one looks like regular paint ( i could be wrong..) Plus the red one is a copy of Snap-on right? So the engineering is similar which means better quality than the black one if it was copied well.

Looks like of the two the Red box is the favorite. I have a small walmart box and I need the extra space. I am storing tools all over the place. I wanted the big box that is on sale right now but that will have to wait for a while. This will work nicely I think. Thanks very much guys. I think I know what I am going to do now.

They would not let you use two coupons (the black cart coupon and the 20% coupon) on the same item. But like "3 at 8" said it will be going on sale again in Aug and you will be able to use the 20% coupon then.

As far as the carts go I love my red one and may end up picking up another in Aug because mine is pretty much full. I painted the drawers on mine black to give it a little different look and think it looks good. Very sturdy. I looked at the black one and for only $20 or so more for the red on its a no brainer. The red one is a much better cart.

the only thing I might add is that if you like using the top as a work surface, the red cart is taller than the black cart, and the black cart is almost a bit too high for me at 5ft 6in.

so I went to get my tool box/cart today.

Pulled out my internet price of $189 (today the price is back up)

They said no problem.

Pulled out my 20% coupon and they said 'nope'..

So I scratched my head and hummed and hawed.. Then spoke to the manager.. Still got the 'nope'... so I looked behind him and the poster is there for the Aug 27,28,29 sale where the box is on sale for $149. Asked if I could use it then? He said 'YUP'.. Again I scratched my head. The folks in line behind me all scratched their heads.

Said thanks and left with my other very cool items on the counter.

I get that he is doing his job (*the manager*) and maybe I am just a cheap-O but it really chapped my ***. I am half tempted to spend the extra money and but a box from someone one.

I guess I shouldn't let it bother me. I can go back in 4 weeks and get the box for $120 (sale at $149 + 20% off).. so maybe he is really doing me a favor.

I've run into the same thing on internet pricing plus a coupon.

no, not in that big of a hurry. Just didn't make sense to me. Either way it wont matter. I was just a little disappointed that this store wouldn't do it.

I first thought about the black one but I bought the red one instead because it has more room. Glad I did as it's almost full already. It's also pretty sturdy and easy to put together.

My only gripe with it is that the lid does not open a full 90 degrees from the top. I think I can probably fix that by moving the mount on the top and drilling a new hole on for the strut.

Go with the red one.
