Hi GJ, new poster, been lurking for a while. Love this forum, lots of good info. I'm sorry if I'm being repetitive but I just came into 2 great Mac Boxes and I can't seem to find a serial # or year for them anywhere.

Can somebody help me ID the two bottom boxes?

Thanks.

After pulling out all the drawers last night I found the serials.

Top is MB503 J1 and the bottom is MB506 F3.

Anyone have any history on these like year of mfg, quality, original price, rough current price? I don't plan on getting rid of these for a long long time but it'd be cool to know.

The drawers are friction sliders and in perfect shape. Didn't come with keys but I score some replacement locks for $20 and now im in business.

And for extra fun, I found these classics sitting behind the drawers in the bottom box

i'd guess the 3 drawer mid box is early 90's, the bottom from the mid eighties.

early 90's is when mac switched drawer styles to the one piece pull instead of the individual handles.

Just got off the phone with Mac, who sent me to Matco. The bottom box is an '83 and they have no records of the top box for some reason which makes them believe it's from pre-'77. Maybe I have the wrong # or something but it definitely looks newer than the bottom one. Fixed the locks on them last night.

If anyone has any ideas about the top box lemme know. I'm gonna check the serial tonight again.

So I lucked into a great top box and wound up trading the smaller middle for this guy. Now the only question I have is does anybody know a few good bottom boxes to go with the MB9100 I scored?

My end goal is to bring the bottom box home to pair with a topbox from the same era (early 80's late 70's matco made) and keep the large roller in the garage with a fitting bottom roller box.

Also, if anyone happens to have a matco era top box for that bottom roller for sale let me know? Danke.

Hey Bimmer, never heard back from you.

Also, does anybody have any recommendations for bottom boxes that fit the 9100? If I'm right, the 9200 was the original match?
