Got a deal on a Doall ML that I could not pass up...I knew ahead of time from reading online what the issues were and what was missing, etc...I still find it hard to believe that ANYONE would try to pick up a 1500lb band saw by the table! Here are some forensic pictures...the first show the casting that bore the weight of the machine for a short time, the second, a portion of the saw blade twisted in the upper guide, presumably when the lifting job went south...looks like they didnt even try to fix it, probably just set it aside...anyhow, I will try and get the main casting welded, and build the other table casting that are broken out of steel, may have to make a new main table support out of steel if the welding job does not work...

You're going to have an awful lot invested in that by the time you get it all fixed.
You could check Ebay for possible parts.
I have sold a lot of Delta & Walker Turner band saw parts on Ebay, just never even looked for Doall.

Oxy acetylene torch, preheat.....( dull cherry glow for 3-4 minutes or 500 degrees for longer in an oven. )
Then arc weld with nickel rod........

Did a lot of cast iron weld repairs on my wife's Chandler and price printing presses....

I think far more damage is done to industrial equipment during moving/shipping than using it. Toy breaker is spot on , that can be welded.

That's too bad. I hate to see old machines that have been around for decades incur senseless damage due to haphazard planning and carelessness. I've never attempted to move a 1500 pound machine, but I have moved more than a few in the 350 - 600 pound range. The heavier they get, the more caution and planning I use. I can't tell you how many times I've seen old Delta Unisaws and heavy duty shapers with their extension wings/tables snapped off because some knucklehead tried to lift it by those extensions. It's so easy to just grab a machine under its table and lift it. Unfortunately the results are always the same. Good luck with your bandsaw. I hope you get it back up and running soon!
