Another Insulation question

I have 1/4" double bubble insulation under a 4 x 12 pitch roof. Is that enough insulation to just install the metal ceiling, insulate the walls and finish the walls? Or do I need additional insulation in the ceiling? I have a 28' x 32' metal pole building with 10' ceilings and I live in the Mid Atlantic Region. I want to eventually add a mini split unit. Thanks.

Personally, I'd want to add some more loose fill in there, above the metal ceiling.

I'm guessing you are about even split on heating and cooling when looking at a year's time, so it would help you out both ways.

Like any building, air sealing is very important too.

I would definitely recommend adding more insulation in the ceiling. Especially if you are going to add HVAC. I did a drywall ceiling and am planning to blow in fiberglass when I get around to rounding up a helper and renting the machine. Make sure to block off the eaves, and other gaps so the loose insulation doesn't go where it is not wanted.

In the grand scheme of things you wont be able to tell that 'bubble wrap' is even there when trying to heat the area...

So the answer really depends on what you want to do...

I have the same insulation. I don't think it serves much more purpose than a barrier between the metal. It gets cold and it gets hot in my shop area that only has the double bubble . Add insulation in my opinion

I am planning my build now. I have went through this thought process already. About what is enough now and what do i need to add later. You will loose most of your heat through the ceiling so that is where you will need the most insulation.

So far as I know, the real intent of the bubble insulation is to just prevent condensation from forming on the underside of the metal.
