So, I was on the search for a cylindrical grinder. I have about 6 jobs a year that I send out. I pick this up for $350. It is about 1960s era cylindrical grinder. It is was made in England by a company called Churchill.

I was looking for a little Jones and shipman, But, if everything works out, hopefully the new/old little Churchill 2500lbs. beast Will earn it’s keep. It does have 4=>550 V motors:shocking:.
I do have an RPC and 15 kVA step up transformer.

I guess now it’s time to plug it in and see if it still works. I didn’t get to see it work hooked up. But for the price, if it doesn’t work as I expect, it will become a parts machine.

Here is my new little Churchhill OH, cylinder grinder. Yes I’m into saving the vintage stuff.

They sure don’t build them like they used to. I opened the electrical panel today to find this mess.
Actually, pretty well organized. I just didn’t expect to see this.

I dont know what I am seeing. Is that the centerless grinding type of machine or a surface grinder. Ive seen some old grinders that look more like a lathe with a grinding wheel shuttling back and forth while the part spins. This one isnt one of them.

Its an OD grinder which operates between centers. Like a lathe but should be able to hit .0002" diameters very easily (in good condition). If the headstock has a chuck it can also be used as an ID grinder with the proper head. Good for hardened materials or when the fit or finish is critical and a lathe won't do.
