I picked up a vintage wooden machinist chest today. It looks like it had labels or name tags at some point but they are missing now. A quick look on the site below was not immediately helpful.

Does anyone recognize the hardware? The side handles have been replaced. Locking hardware seems to be Corbin.

Looks like we might have recently joined expert amoung us now and I could reach out to him if the consensus here is that it's not "home made"

I would venture a guess that box is homemade. The locking hardware is likely from a donor box. Some detailed pictures at the drawer corners may help a bit. It appears that considerable time and effort was made to make that box.

Thanks fellas. It does appear to be rather well made. Box joints for the carcase, interlocking drawer-front joints. It's the rectangular drawer pulls that don't seem to match any of the factory-made boxes of the era.

Personally, I'd just enjoy it, and keep an eye on the main wooden box thread, it's brother may show up one day.

I've got one that I am sure is factory made, just haven't figured out which factory yet. I spend an hour looking a few times a year.... Someday, I will know.

Pictures may help us ...we all have afflictions , might as well make it our obsession as well...
