Been hanging back learning and waiting for my concrete contractor to get going, waiting for him to come back, and waiting for him to clean up the mess. Tomorrow he is going to cut the floor then I get to build the rest.
Two years of planning went into this 2 story earth-bermed 24 wideX36 deep that is about ready to be turned over to me. Back and side walls are 10' due to the foundation being built back into a hillside and are 12" thick. These walls will be built up another 24" for extra head room. 6" insulated floor with pex tube installed. Materials are ordered but I'm sure I've overlooked a bunch of details.
I've got "friends" that are on my case because I didn't put floor drains in. This is to be my hobby shop and I didn't want anything in the floor to catch wheeled equipment. They argue that the next owner will want floor drains. I say screw the next owner, I've owned this property for 28 years and when there is a next owner I'll be dead! I've got a steel fab business that is 3 blocks from the house with truck bays and have both 2 and 4 post hoists there if needed. The main part of the new shop will be for my in progress project storage and upstairs is to house the motorcycle collection.
I'll be posting pictures and asking questions as it progresses.
