Hi guys,
I have a place about 30 miles east of Austin. Plenty of room going back, but limited at the front to about 30 - 32 feet wide. (property line and easement - as well as part of the septic on the other side)

The place I bought is in a rare pine forest and it burned the previous owner's place to the ground. Cleaning up dead trees but things that are still living are greening back up real nice with the additional rain this year.

i have VERY sandy soil ...almost 100% sand for about 5-6 feet down until the sand gets mixed with clay.

The local contractors, and for many miles around have been kep busy rebuilding and don't have time for little projects ...yet. I had one come out, but never got back to me with an estimate.

Anyway, I am researching on here and trying to decide between stick built that I do most of the work., or a steel building. Thinking somehting around 30x40x12 would barely give me the room I need, but have to keep expenses down.

Looking hard at Mueller Steel right now. The foundation is the scary part for me. I want to put a car lift in and I know I need extra strength where the lift would be. I also don't want to have standing water.

What's with the drains I see in some garage/workshop floors? Where does that go? I have a septic tank and I am concerned about grease or any chemicals getting into the septic.

Any suggestions, advice or resources?

I seen one guy bought a refurbished lift. I have to find him and see where I can find them at and how close to Austin.

Steve
