Hi all, like many, I have just found the site and forums and have been reading everything I can. I am in the very early stages of my garage plans and I have already learned quite a bit. My plans are to build a 30'x30' wood framed detached garage. We bought an "old" house (1954) which had the original 2 car garage converted in to a studio. One of my concessions in buying the house was that I would leave the converted garage as is (we call it the teen room
) if I could build a "real" garage at some later point. Well it's later and I am ready.
I've spent the better part of 3 days pummeling Google SketchUp in to submission. I have a rough idea of structure placement and I hope to be able to post it so you guys can have a look. I also hope to find some other North Texas folk who can share sub contractor and possibly architect recommendations. My wife is convinced that a 30'x30' garage is going to cost upwards of 40k. I just do not believe that is true as I plan on finishing the interior and doing all the wiring (except the sub panel) myself.
Anyway thanks to everyone for such a great site!
