I originally found this site when a buddy told me to check out OldCarGuy's 'garage'. What an amazing setup, being there must be something like a religious experience.
I just started working toward an associate degree in auto tech this semester, school started a couple weeks ago. The school requires a 1 year full-time internship after 4 semesters of training. So, I'll be eligible for ASE testing about the same time I fully graduate. I already have a diploma in motorcycle mechanics from an online school. I'm not sure how useful the diploma really is (I definitely never tried to get a job based on that little education), but they used the MMI textbook and I've had some success at home on a couple basket case bikes I've bought to practice actual work on.
My toolboxes have a mix of brands and even a few import models that haven't made it to my borrow box yet. So far my tool buying strategy has been, based on cash considerations, an initial trip to Harbor Freight whenever a new tool was needed, then a trip to, usually, Sears whenever cash became available. Eventually all the imports should end up in the box I let people borrow out of.
Thanks for the great site. I definitely look forward to checking out more.
