Just want to say Hi,
After a life time of acquiring equipment and tools, I found myself starting over at ...lets just say a little older than before...
I am dealing with a nasty leaky old garage.
By saving a little and buying and selling I've acquired a lot of pretty decent woodworking equipment. Some metal working stuff. and a few other things.
I'm getting tired of putting a tarp over everything when it rains.
My big dilemma? Beside $$$ , My workspace sits over the property line on not one, but TWO walls by a couple of inches. Complicating the "permit" issue
So my plan for this year and I hope to document...
Replace the rotten sill plates with treated lumber
Re-enforce the walls
Replace the roof, hopefully with a little added rafter storage
AND...this is the hard one pour a new slab over the existing...WHY ?...because it's my understanding that once I rip up concrete I can't replace it.
Once I start on the sill plats I will probably start a new thread...
I want to say thanks to everyone that have posted such inspirational pic's of your work place/man cave

Rick

Hello Rick and Welcome to the GJ...we're practically neighbors!
Your pretty close to me, just on the other side of the airport.
Spent a lot of time at the school district 94 (Hester, Petrini, North, East, and Passow) working on upgrading their HVAC automation.
Will be interesting to see your thread on the garage remodel...good luck!

ambenz, thanks...I was born and raised in "da city" so I gotts no idea about school district 94 location, this suburb life is a few years old to me. it's weird but SO much more relaxed....you might not get it, but now as I drive east, my knuckles get so much more whiter...checked your pic's, man I'm jealous, I got so little space... but I still have big fun doing it.
