Longtime reader, first time poster.
Been on a lot of Mustang forums (and recognize some of you) thru the years, just never got around to joining here.
I'm 51, got the kids thru college and moved out, now it's time for ME to have a little fun. I've always had a "working garage" - lots of mechanical work done and more carwashes & detail work than I care to admit. I have a 3 bay garage, with 2 of them taken by the "driver" vehicles most of the time. The 3rd bay is where my toy resides... And it's time to do a little more there. Space is a little tight with a 10'4" ceiling, but my car is pretty short and low. Will do some work, but I'm as much interested in adding another toy as working on things.
Anybody else find that they're REALLY sore after rolling around on a concrete floor all day?
I've had enough of THAT and plan to install a lift in the next 2-3 months. First step is the hi-lift garage door conversion. I've got a garage door guy I've used in the past, and will most likely use again. I've looked at DDM, and understand what needs done (also have to change from extension springs to torsion). Tempting to do myself, but frankly, torsion springs scare the **** out of me.
I've seen the result when a neighbor busted his wrist up good... I already have the Liftmaster 8500 sitting here, so just waiting on the door guy.
I'll have to do a little electrical and add more lighting, but that's no big deal. I currently have multiple ceiling fans with 3-light kits under them and the big swirly bulbs, but will probably add 4-6 4' LED's along the lift area. Need much better lighting when detailing for show.
Leaning toward the Atlas 408-SL lift at the moment. Seems stouter than most entry-level lifts, but still a good price point at $2195.
Enough rambling. Back to the SEARCH function and more hours of reading. I'm sure I'll find some questions to ask that haven't been asked before!
