Longtime reader, first time poster.
Been on a lot of Mustang forums (and recognize some of you) thru the years, just never got around to joining here.

I'm 51, got the kids thru college and moved out, now it's time for ME to have a little fun. I've always had a "working garage" - lots of mechanical work done and more carwashes & detail work than I care to admit. I have a 3 bay garage, with 2 of them taken by the "driver" vehicles most of the time. The 3rd bay is where my toy resides... And it's time to do a little more there. Space is a little tight with a 10'4" ceiling, but my car is pretty short and low. Will do some work, but I'm as much interested in adding another toy as working on things.

Anybody else find that they're REALLY sore after rolling around on a concrete floor all day? :lol_hitti
I've had enough of THAT and plan to install a lift in the next 2-3 months. First step is the hi-lift garage door conversion. I've got a garage door guy I've used in the past, and will most likely use again. I've looked at DDM, and understand what needs done (also have to change from extension springs to torsion). Tempting to do myself, but frankly, torsion springs scare the **** out of me. :willy_nil I've seen the result when a neighbor busted his wrist up good... I already have the Liftmaster 8500 sitting here, so just waiting on the door guy.

I'll have to do a little electrical and add more lighting, but that's no big deal. I currently have multiple ceiling fans with 3-light kits under them and the big swirly bulbs, but will probably add 4-6 4' LED's along the lift area. Need much better lighting when detailing for show.

Leaning toward the Atlas 408-SL lift at the moment. Seems stouter than most entry-level lifts, but still a good price point at $2195.

Enough rambling. Back to the SEARCH function and more hours of reading. I'm sure I'll find some questions to ask that haven't been asked before!

1986: it looks like you know how to write a good post so welcome to our forum and hope you find what you are looking for. i don't own a lift, but i have a 70 year old friend that likes to work on my Hondas so as long as he wants to and can use the money i'll send them his way.

i have read a lot of good information on several garage gallery and forum threads about the Max Jax which might be a good choice if you don't have 12.2 foot tall ceilings for the bigger lifts.

how about posting a few pictures of your car, garage or favorite pet so you'll know how to post them and also add a little color to your thread.

cheers

Ah yes, pictures - every forum needs 'em!
Happy to oblige!

Only garage picture I could find is from outside. The red Saleen is now in the #3 (single car) slot. That's where the lift will go. I'll actually be able to stack the 2 Mustangs during the winter with plenty of space to spare.

And a better picture of the 86 Saleen Mustang. 46k mile 98% original car.

Welcome fellow Kansan!

If you're active in the Mustang scene, I'll bet you know a friend of mine out of Chapman, Ks - he drives a red Rousch 427.....

86: nice looking cars. i used to own a couple Mustangs about 40 years ago. my second car i owned was a 67 fastback with a 302 and a year or two later upgraded to a 70 Mach 1 with a 428 cobra jet. had a lot of fun with them and sadly they were sold for next to nothing. now i just drive a honda 7 mph over the speed limit.

maybe when the last of my 5 children move that are working and going to college full time i'll have time and more important money to buy something a bit sportier again.

cheers and thanks for the pictures. any questions on how to use the forum yet? how far are you from Hutchinson because only town besides Wichita that I've been to and for a golf tournament in 1988? as i remember it was pretty flat, windy and a lot of farms growing something that looked like pineapples. Nice people though

Thanks! I actually used to be a vintage Mustang guy until the Saleen bug (the 86 is my 3rd one) bit me 10 years ago. I'm located just outside Kansas City - actually about 5 miles west of Kansas Speedway. Probably ~200 miles to Hutchinson.

Here's the 65 Mustang restomod that was my ground-up build.

86: thanks for sharing the 65 picture. nice restoration and funny that was my wife's first car when she was 16. she bought hers in 1972 and maybe owned for a couple years until she had a couple boys (step sons) in 1974 and 1976. i emailed her the picture and she thought yours looked a lot better than her stock one.

have fun with the group and if you happen to have questions about a vise or some old tool brands you can usually find me in those sections or PM me if you have a quick question.

cheers

I can only wish to have a garage like that down the road. Filled with cool gadgets, like a batcave or something.
