For $5 that looks pretty good. Those braun ones are neat but I bet I'd snap the head off it in a heartbeat when it inevitably ends up under my fatass while I'm rolling under the car.

They also upgraded the free LED work lights, instead of the 30 **** LED bulbs, the switched to a single strip for the big light. It's a lot brighter and clearer even at the edges of the light compared to the originals.

Hey now. Nothing says quality like dirt cheap products from HF. I'm sure it doesn't heat up like a miniature furnace, eat batteries, then start flickering and dying within weeks. I bet it could even be mil-spec.

I have a Lil Larry, and while the light is decent enough, the magnet is damn near worthless.

I got similar cob light and single led on end torch and clever swivel clip with magnet off ebay for under couple bucks bidding, they have them listed real cheap and do a rechargeable one too. Bought silver grey anodised alloy housing single AA pocket torches too for a buck bidding and now got 4 of them. very bright and totally loosable/abusable at the cost .

For $5, I wonder how it would hold up the heat of a structure fire on my helmet ? Might not be a bad light to try for the price and consider it a disposable light or maybe as a second back up work light in my turnout gear.

In essence, buying one of these with a "free" tool (magnetic tray, tape measure, magnetic strip) coupon would be worth making the stop by HF the next time I'm over that way.


EDIT: better yet when you give them the 20% off coupon and they use that too on the $5 light.

I got one a few days ago. I like it alright, I guess. The magnet seems to be strong enough to hold it up okay. I'd call it worth $4.39.

The braun one is awesome. I use them under dock levers while welding or wiring hydraulic motors. The magnet works good. So good I left it under the last dock leveler I did . I like that they are rechargeable and use the micro USB port. The light pattern is great and it doesn't wash out thecolorof the wires like some led lights do

My main concern is the flex head on it, I haven't ever actually seen one in store since they are sold out. Does the hinge feel sturdy? Just makes me kinda nervous since when I was doing the axle seals on my mercury, all my tools and light managed to find its way under my back at some point when I was crawling around messing with the differential. Rechargeable is nice though, and $20 with coupon is nicererer.

Not the sturdiest but it is handy. Its bright enough and throws a wide enough beam that I stick it out of the way and don't really mess with it

Picked one up last night for $4 w/ the memorial day coupons.

Stout little light. All aluminum. Uses 3 AAA (included), would prefer a 18650, but still decent. Hi/Lo, damn bright for as small as it is. Uses the new COB LED.

Definitely worth the 5 bucks regular price.

I saw they updated the free blue light so I grabbed one(I have probably 7 or 8 of the old ones), but I noticed the new one doesn't seem any brighter, and they're really not that useful. I think I've used one maybe two times out of desperation.

I got one and was very impressed in that it was all metal, no plastic. But I glanced down where there were the cheesy 27 led portable hand held lights and I noticed there were some significant upgrades.

The cheesy 27 led ones were were replaced with a COB led, just like the Quantum Pocket Worklight. The part number is 63601, and the best part is that there was a free coupon for it. Works just as good as the Quantum Pocket Worklight. It looks like this is new, because the web site shows 63601 still as the 27 led one. So your local store might not have it yet.

I'm going to make another trip tomorrow and get another one, along with the 12 inch toolbag. It's very well made, and has lots of pockets inside and out.

Bought one of these, real bright light for a couple bucks. The magnet isn't the strongest, and it fell about 6ft on concrete and now doesn't turn on. For at home use, definitely a good buy, but not tough enough for a shop. Will probably get another one someday, and keep it at the house.

I picked up one last week, I’ve used it every day since then, great value for $5 I think.

There were 24 bulbs in the array, but they kept the 3 leds on the end. That array is called a COB, chip on board. You get more light for less power. They should do something about the weak magnet. The light can't hold it's own weight if it is not on a flat steel slab. It won't even stick to the HF shelves. Years ago it came with a strong cup magnet.

My local stores finally started stocking the Quantum "pocket" worklight. I had seen them online months ago, but never in the store. It has a nice metal body and two brightness settings. The magnet is pretty good, but not as strong as the Braun folding worklight I picked up a month or two ago.

The plastic covering the Quantum worklight's COB LED seems kinda flimsy though. I am not sure it will withstand a lot of abuse. For the average DIYer like me it is a good light, but probably would not stand up to shop use. So far it is worth the $3.97 I spent on it with coupon.

I also got one of the new updated free blue worklights. Its COB LED gives more light and more uniform light than the old 24 LED design. I agree with 6PTsocket that magnets on the blue lights are weak. I would not pay for the blue light, but it is fine for a freebie.

Not sure which NEBO Larry you have and what exactly you don't like about it, but the HF Quantum worklight seems almost identical in dimensions to the Big Larry if that helps. fyi I am basing this off online dimensions as I don't have a Big Larry to compare to the HF.
