Another old floor jack thread

Okay, I have a floor jack that was passed down to me and I have used it for at least 4 years. I know nothing about it. Any help would be awesome. I looke dfor tags on it but found none. I see the sticker said service jack and at the bottom has a small Milwaukee but its torn after the "Milwau"

Any help would be great. I'd like to restore it.

Got one that looks just like it I bought new off the Mac truck 25 years ago. Still use it every day.

It is definitely a overseas Jack, Elroy had one similar that he had posted about that also had the Milwaukee tag on it. If Milwaukee hydraulics was ever affiliated with that version of jack is was only to make some extra income. It is a older taiwan jack, It will more than likely have a u-cup on the ram, it will probably have a Over-extend shut off on the Main Ram. When and if you take it apart be very carefull removing the ram, There will probably be a small rod that goes completely thru it and inside the hole there is a small push pin that un-seats a ball when the jack is at Max height. Are you saying it's a Milwaukee BRAND jack, or it was manufactured in Milwaukee?

Personally, I'd dive in. If it was handed down to you it may have some sentimental value. Take it apart completely, have the pieces powder coated the color of your choice - though I'd be partial to putting it back red - and its good to go for another 50 years!

Its not a Milwaukee Jack, and although hands down better than anything overseas you can buy today, It wont last 50 years without Maintenance and some parts replacement.

No, the Milwaukee is very small as if the company was from Milwaukee or something.

In the last pic, you can see a hole in the ram wear fluid can leak out and has leaked out.

That hole looks like the resevoir fill plug and someone took it apart and didnt get the resevoir hole centered before tightening it up. Ive never seen one that rotated without loosening the tank nut.

Will try to scan a pic I have from when it was new. My son was jacking up his cozy coupe. I have probably added oil to mine 10 times in 25 years. Was rated at 2 1/2 tons.

You can Mic the Pump Orings and the Tank Nut Oring + backups and get them at a local Hydraulic shop or Most implement dealers carry a fairly large selection. Im guessing the Ram utilizes a U-cup, Most of the time there size is stamped on them or you can easily Mic them also. Everything will be Metric. If you have problems finding stuff locally give me a shout when you get some measurements and i will assist you.
