Literally!

Did well at two yard sales today, but first up is the Winchester Hatchet, 1/2" Cornwell Combo, and a 9/16 Plvmb Combo. All for $2! :D

Next up was a "Combined deal": An older 3 drawer roller, with what I thought was a fairly std, side cabinet, and an 18 drawer 3X5 card file which had been converted to hardware storage.

The guy said "$30 for all of it including all the contents, and I'll throw in a couple of plants free!, and I'll deliver it!" (You had to be there...)

I looked it over and was thinking that based on the logo shape it was either a Mac or a Matco? :dunno: (I was wrong, its an older RemLine :twak:)

I was very hesitant as it had all that crappy silver paint over everything. Whoever the original owner was, he looks to have worked in the airline industry and there are several Airline stickers in various places.

The he came back and said $25, two free plants and no delivery!"

I thought about that and came back with "$25 you keep the plants and deliver." (I was in the little car, and I'm having lower back pain, so delivery sounded good!)

"Find something else so I'm comfortable delivering for $30. take a look in the garage for anything"

Anything? Hmmm.. must be something I can find in all this junk...

I poke around a bit, and finally spot a 7/7 shiny chromed combination wrench hanging on a peg half covered. (Puts glasses on) Snap-on..!!!

I pint it out and told him I'd do the 30 if he includes the wrench. he pulls it done and hands it to me... :lol_hitti

He gets his truck loads up the card file (which was loaded with both good hardware and junk...) and he and his helper load the box up. I tied it down, and he followed me home (maybe 1/2 mile?), Off loads everything with my son's help, and I pay him.

So here is the box:

I wish there was a paint remover with better control, I'd liek to get the silver **** off without buggering up the RemLine nameplate... :headscrat

And here is the side box, but it turns out the thing is all aluminum (Welded), has no back and is pop riveted to the side of the RemLine! :wtf:

Still very usable. Interestingly the shelves are an aluminum laminate sandwich with some type of rigid foam inside. Remarkably strong looking!

And last but not least, here is the Card file/Hardware storage drawer bins:

I spent about an hour using the good stuff from inside to restock my "hardware store" area, and tossing the junk out. I still have one drawer to go (it's missing two, but these are fairly common, I should be able to come up with a couple sometime...) I noticed when I was editing the pics, that there are two different drawer pulls, which explains why some were painted inside olive green, and some were another color...

The box looks a lot like other late fifties/sixties boxes with rounded front corners and square back corners. Craftsman, and Monkey Wards (at least) both had this style box. Maybe RemLine had a contract with both? :dunno:

Its not missing the garage door, its just tucked into the up position. Even has the lock cylinder, (but no keys...)

I have that exact same blue card file cabinet! Mine was also olive green and has the drawers with the bent sheet metal handles not the enclosed handles like some of yours.

My cardfile was once used at the Pratt&Whitney aircraft engine factory so that may explain the army green color it was originally. It even still contains some of the 12pt engine bolts that were used in Pratt engines.

The handle on that "remline" box looks like it has the cornwell man on it. Let me know if you want to sell that Cornwell wrench
