This type of hammer originated in th 30's boys.

And Firebirds originated in 1967, but unless I am selling one from the '60s, I wouldn't put it in my auction title.

Anyway, this thread was not started to criticize you, at least not that I could tell. But somehow, and whose fault it is I don't know, it has gotten a bit sour in here, generally speaking.

First of all you are comparing apples to oranges. Cars do have specific years of manufacture. The design of my hammer originated in the 30's. The one for sale was obviously made in the 50's by the proto name on it. I doubt the bidders on the hammer bid on it because it says 1930's in the title. But you guys have accused me of running my own bid. Which I do not do. Further I maintain a near 100 % positive feedback rating by treating my buyers right. If someone buys something from me and for whatever reason they are not satisfied, I tell them to return it for a full refund. On lower priced items I have given refunds and told the buyer to keep the item. But you guys can keep thinking I am a crook, none of you would buy what I sell anyway.

amorrow. Thanks for posting the pics! Looks like a nice hammer but I don't know if I would spend the big bucks for that!

No problem, and I personally wouldn't pay that kind of money for it, either...to be honest, I would've thrown it out when I first came across it if the face wasn't in good condition.

Oh, lets all be friends. I'm sure anyone spending that kind of money on an old hammer knows the era that Proto name was in use. It is not like anyone is going to make in impulse purchase here.

The idea is the same: I would not include in the auction title for a car any detail not relevant to the actual car I was selling. It's a poor practice.

Did someone in here accuse you of bidding fraud? If so, it wasn't me, and it's you and I who are talking right now. In my first post to you, I wrote,

"I hope that no one is messing with you, because that would just be stupid. I also want to assure you that, at least on my part, there was no question that any bidding oddness was coming from you. My curiosity was just whether some jerk with nothing better to do was bidding up these hammers and then refusing to pay."

I also told you to stick around if you like tools, and that I was glad you found us, so I'm not sure why you feel targeted.

As for no one here buying anything you have to sell, that's an odd comment. I myself have spent hundreds of dollars on eBay for tools and tool-related items in the past several months. The rest of the guys here are always on eBay looking for tools, automotive literature, etc. If we aren't your customers, then I'm not sure who are.

I do not state in the description that the hammer was made in the 30's,

my auction is legitimate and I do not shill bid. Look at my feedback, do you think I play games??
.

Are you for real? I think you play games. Its right there in your description. I wouldnt put shill bidding past someone who makes a false description and then plays it off as "a common practice on Ebay to put random things in the title of an ad to draw attention. "

Really. Nice. Why didnt you throw Snap on in the description too? Oh yeah thats right... snap on would have your auction pulled for misrepresentation.

Yes it says 1930s in the title of my ad. There is no mention of the year in the description. It seems to be a common practice on Ebay to put random things in the title of an ad to draw attention.

Yes many sellers on eBay use misleading titles and those titles give way to bids beyond the value of the item. One of the negatives I gave out was for a push drill that the title said it was mint that looked perfect in the photo but on the back side had an inch paint scraped off.

If I purchased an item that the title reads made in the 1930s but it is made in the 50s than I would feel scammed especially considering the inflated bids based on that information.

If you continue to use deceptive titles your feedback will reflect this and will influence how high people bid.

Proto hammer from the past AND the FUTURE!

Those old Proto hammers must be like gold.

Yes, but not nearly as valuable as old Proto hammers from the FUTURE!

The hammer pictured below is from the 2030's AND the 1960's at the same time! It came from the estate of a retired time traveler who picked it up to repair his time ship during a trip to the 1960's. After a lifetime of travels, he retired to the 2030's. It was only pure chance that he died while on a business trip back to current times and happend to have this very hammer with him in his tool kit.

Offers anyone?

WoD

I think I figured it out. Current Year = 2011, Hammer is “from the estate of a 95 year old bodyman.” Let’s assume that the 95 year old man started his career at around age 20.

2011 – 95 + 20 = 1936

mla809 - your listing title is clearly and intentionally misleading. Your post here are rather pathetic word games.

No Hard feelings gentlemen. I have editted my ad on Ebay to clarify the age of the tool. In case you don't know, I can't change the title.

If this was my sale I would now offer the bidders a chance to cancell their bids before it gets down to the last 12 hours

Wow, this thread got interesting!

I just don't see spending that kind of dough on one hammer.
IMO the title to the ebay ad is deceptive, but at least he changed the description.

Also I agree with treasureseeker.....but I have a feeling our ebay friend wont do that.
