There are two things that bother me about my fab table, lack of storage and it being a chore to clean under it.

So then, started a new and improved version.
This one is being built over a 30" wide X 28" tall Vidmar box.
The top is a blind flange, 41-3/4" diameter X 2-1/4" thick.

Thanks John,
This is a different blind, 2" smaller in diameter and 2-1/4" thick.
The first one had 28ea 1-7/8" holes, this one has 44 ea 1" holes.

Got the blind drilled and tapped for attaching the legs, then got it set and shimmed up dead level.
The box is beat up, but the drawers roll swell.
Painted the shell of the box, but left the drawer fronts original.
I kind of like the look of the red against the oiled rust.

You're going to like that a lot. I built mine out of a 2" cross cut of A-36 atop two small lista cabinets. It's fantastic to have all the layout and fab tools right at hand and organized

The framework was all 2-1/2" seam-out. Lots of raw ends that accept vises table extension whatever.

I sure do like it.
I would sure like to see pics of yours, if you have any.

Layed out the top in 0-90 quadrents, broke down in 11-1/4 and 15 degree increments.

Royce,

You've given me the round fab table dream. Especially so now with this second one.

I have a 1" thick 56" diameter piece of steel off the top of a cell tower. It's about 700 pounds. It's the piece on the bottom in the photo. It has a pipe in the middle.

I'm going to mount 3 legs on it with HD casters. The legs will be set in a bit, allowing me to clamp things to the overhang. Thinking about a method to raise and lower it. I think I'm going to make the legs 2 piece sliding pipes with one inside the other with holes for pins. Then use the center pipe as a place to lift and lower the table.

That's a great start to a table.
Just a thought,
You could weld a pad to each outer leg for a jacking point, then raise each leg up one at a time with any jack.

Is your angle marked 41.25 marked correctly? It's a lot closer to 30 than it is to 45.

What the heck!
Must of had my head where it should not aught to be!
I'll be changing that to 33.75.
Looks like I added 11.25 to 30, should have added 11.25 to 22.5
The degrees are correct but the label is wrong.

And here I thought nobody pays any attention!
Good catch csp
Thanks for the heads up

Made a mig torch holder, welded a couple pins to some Bessey clamps to fit the flange holes and rigged a couple eyes for winching to the table.

Awesome as usual Royce!

I figured you must have added the 30 and 11.25 together. Lots going on there and I can see getting distracted.

Made a third hand that will also get used as a armrest for welding.
Started with a 1-1/4" OTC puller shaft that the ends were turned to 1", fitting the flange holes nicely.

Made some V-blocks for splicing and mitering.
The protractor keys into them for alignment.

So does the protractor pivot bolt locate on the table?
Yes, the blade ends are welded to pins and the pivot is centered on the flange, the edge of the tongue and blade
This pic shows the pin halves tacked to the blade.

Royce and his tell tale flange table.

That should be a useful table, those attachments are worth their weight in gold.

I came across a chance to snag a 70” x1.5” circle and it’s sitting on the trailer waiting on me.

It’ll replace a 4’x8’ 3/4” table that I use now.

Look forward to seeing your creations on this one.

I want to come to AK just to see the scrapyard all your giant steel comes from. I don't know of any place within 100 miles that would sell stuff like that to someone off the street.

rk,
Most of the steel was aquired when it had no market, now that Alaska exports its scrap, it's tough to find a deal.
