So I finally found the time to coat my garage floor. It was poured back in December 2015 and I never parked anything inside that was a risk to drip any oil. As far as prep work goes, I went over it with a grinder just enough to scratch it up a bit because it was so glossy smooth from when they power troweled it and got the surface as clean and dust free as possible after. The product was extremely easy to put down. The original plan was to put down 4 coats on the 1200 square feet, but I ended up with enough to do a 5th coat. I put anti skid in the 3rd coat and I'm glad I was able to put down a 5th because after 4 coats it was still very coarse. I think its just right now.
Some thoughts:
- Epoxying the floor really made every little pit and divit in the concrete really pop out. I'm sure adding the colored flakes would have eliminated that some.
-Where gloves! It's been almost a week and I still have this stuff on my hands. I eventually put gloves on for the later coats, my fault there.
Special thanks to Justin for all his input and help wth ordering the epoxy. They had it shipped to my house much sooner than I expected. Only time will tell but I'm very happy with how it turned out and hope to get years of durability out of it!
