Howdy all--

I just joined the group. I've been haphazardly following DRB/Scanner topics on the 'Journal.

Please forgive me if this is the thousandth time something like this has surfaced.

I'm wondering if there's an obsolete scanner/DRB that might fill my needs:

I've got a pair of 1997 Dodges-- a '97 Dodge Grand Caravan and a '97 Dodge 2500 PU.

I'm looking for a comparatively cheap I'm thinking obsolete bi-directional scanner/DRB that would allow me to drill down into the vehicles' ECUs-- to wit:

1) read out transmission CVI
2) reset transmission ECU -- 'learn mode?'
3) get at the HVAC ECU such as readout AC high side temp
4) ABS fault codes
5) ABS "open valves" for bleeding brake fluid

The above is just off the top of my head-- they've been nagging me for years. DRBs like the Autel MAXIDAS will do the above but I'd rather not drop
a grand on a DRB specifically for these cars-- I'm not making a living it's purely for the care and feeding of my old Chryco iron.

Chryco's proprietary DRBs still seem to demand high prices...

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks in advance for your constructive help.
