I hope these pictures work. I've been in and around and working in scrap yards most of my life and I have never found one of these.............Until today

That's in great shape - good save. It will clean up nicely. I have a Fisher from the 1870s that was in similar shape. It cleaned up well and is a pleasure to use.

People throw them out because there are no Road Runners in their area so what the heck would they ever do with them.

Sweet vise. Congrats

I attend a lot of auctions and rarely see anvils for sale let alone ones in good shape like yours.

That's in really good shape, and around here would bring at least $3/lb. Vulcans have a somewhat thinner top plate, so you don't want to grind it to make it "like new" again even if there are dimples or marks on it. All that one needs looks to be a little wire wheel cleaning and some sort of preservative after it's clean.

Thanks!!!!! I really have no immediate for it I just always wanted one for some reason. After 25 years of hanging around and working in the scrap business I finally got one that I didn't have to go broke buying. Unfortunately I think I'm just going to clean it up and retire it. Does anybody have any idea about when this was made??It took me a minute to figure out the road runner comment. That made my morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as the RR, wasn't that just Acme anvils, not Vulcans? Besides, they're typically used on coyotes, not RR's.

Get a forge next and start pounding metal. A few quick lessons on You Tube and you'll get the bug.

Acme anvils were actually made by Hay-Budden in Brooklyn, so I'm sure there's another joke in there somewhere....
