Another shed

I guess it's the season for sheds.
Getting ready for the winter time in the garage and needed to make some room. Building a 12x20 shed on concrete slab with 9.5' high walls. Still need shingles, trim, etc, but getting there. Father in law was visiting and he was a lot of help. With the rain storm, I had to build a tent to pour and finish the slab, worked well.

I haven't kept a good track of the cost (I'm sure it will make me cry), but here are the big figures.
-5.5 cubic yards of concrete, 4000psi with air added, $650
-All the lumber, garage door (8x7), sheathing/siding, 36" man door, drip edge, felt paper $1800
-#4 rebars, around $200

The concrete slab is monolithic with the perimeter being around 18" thick and 12" wide, then slopes up at 45 degrees and the middle of the slab around 5 inches thick. I removed about 2 feet of top soil, dug up shale from other part of the property to build back up. Borrowed my neighbor's rolling compactor to tamp it all down. #3 limestone at the base, #2a on top of that all compacted, 6 mil vapor barrier, then rebars on 24" OC grid. It was meant to be "just a shed", but I tend to go overboard with things. I will build a loft at one end of the shed over the 3' man door to store things. I used the ceiling joist span for attic storage per the building code, so it can handle lots of weight. Believe it or not, the shed EXCEEDS the 2009 International Residential Code for habitable family dwelling.

I'm building the same size shed,shop .....just got the slab poured. I was excited to see this post. What type of t11 is that? Where di you getand what size roll up is that? LOOKS GREAT!!! MIKE

I did notice that there are quite a few pictures of you hamming it up for the camera while the FIL is working. The price FIL's have to pay for someone to take care of their daughters.

Great job on the shed / building / garage/ Well scratch shed because that is built better than most homes!!! Very nice work indeed!!!

I take it someone has worked construction before?

Is there any progress on this shed? Just kind stopped, no pictures of the doors or finalized project... remember it didnt happen without the pictures.
I like looks of the project, wondered what the cost of it was and what you might do different now that you have it done?

Wow, you're right.
I guess I got a bit ******* with finishing up the woodworking shop in the basement, hadn't posted the photo. I will post new photos this week. I can't say I know the overall cost. But if you ask my wife, she'll say it went over budget as all of my projects tend to. It got late in the season (snow) so I have not finished the soffits, and corner trims.
