Hey MudBugg,

No, I haven't made it to the Hot Sauce Festival with this car. This year I was working and didn't have the grunt to pull it all together. This pic was taken in Henderson at the Show Shine and Dine, in 2007.

Yes, we've been working on the shop a bit. And yes, I'm gonna do some updates soon. Started to do just that last weekend, but I had peas falling of my plate that needed attention.

This year we have replaced the gas pack for the house, the water heater and I just crawled out from under replacing the icemaker waterline.

Now for the shop, (just as important) stuff. We got the wife's room wired, painted and ready for flooring. By accident, I was looking on Ebay and ran across a similar Amana gas pack to the one we had installed in June. It had some dock damage from a fork lift and was in Charlotte. Brand new, never installed for a single bid of 50 bucks. The existing unit was LP and used when I put it in 6-7 years ago.

We picked it up and I did some delicate repair to the damaged coil, then installed it just last week. Had to install a natural gas line from the house to the shop for the new unit.

The heat works like a champ, don't know about the AC yet, as I've only pulled a vacuum and checked for leakage at the repair site. Hope to get it charged soon.

O.K., enough of that. So, I take it you're local? If you are, we probably know some of the same people, in a round-about way. Hard not to you know?

So, we've been busy this year with work, projects, need/must do things. I bought this place in 1986. Upgraded the wiring, installed a 200 amp service, reworked the well pump and related, and re-plumbed the whole house. New water heater, roof and storm windows/doors.

Now, everything is wearing out at the same time.:wtf:

The house needs painting bad, but we want to re-side and probably go with a metal roof. So, I'll just hold off on the paint for now and put that money towards the other outside work.

Like I mentioned, we had to replace the old Amana gas pack that was installed in 1986. Had my AC Guru R&R the unit this past June. This new unit made a huge difference over the old one in operating costs this Summer.

This made me think, Hey, it sure would be nice if I could afford a unit like this for the shop. The shop unit was a used no-name Propane unit I bought from a guy at work. It heated and cooled well enough, but had a minor Freon leak and was expensive to operate.

Found a 15 Seer 4 ton 115,000 btu Amana natural gas unit on Ebay. The unit was damaged in the condenser coil from a fork lift.

Here's the ditch for the natural gas line. Dug this with, of all things, a Mantis Tiller. Tilled the super hard soil then shoveled the loose soil out.

The gas line. I had a 100' of stainless 3/4" sch 40 from a previous project, so it got used and saved some dough. I tried to think ahead and plan for future expansion. Probably will have a gas water heater in the shop, possibly other gas appliances.

And......... the unit in place and in operation.

Total cost to purchase the new unit, repair and install stands at 126.05 at the moment. I'm more than pleased with this so far.
