Hey guys new to the forum. Know this has been covered 1,000 times but wanted some current opinions. I work in a decent sized shop and want a good sized cart because I move from bay to bay every time I pull in a car. I like the matco JSC carts but have to go with Snap On this time because of the warranty. Don't like sliding tops and want something with a good amount of space. So I want to see what you guys think, the KRSC326 or it's big brother, the KRSC46.
:dunno:

The 46 is kind of big to be rolling around. I have one and only roll it when I have a fairly big job. I am looking in to getting a blue point sliding top roller box for rolling around. I hate leaving my tool box open

I've seen what passes for "carts" these days and thought......that's not a cart, that's a small toolbox. So that's what I ended up buying after going through several carts and not getting into any of them. It holds all my most used stuff as well as giving me a comfortable height work surface. I replaced the two fixed castors with swivel castors and came up with a second handle for the other side and POW! mother of all carts!

I have a KRSC40 which is the same as the 46 with different drawers. It's a toolbox basically, works for me as I roll it from machine to machine that I'm working on. I also got it with 4 swivel casters and 2 handles. Had the rubber top and extra drawer kit. I got it used, it's pretty sweet for my application. Pic is before I brought it to work. Sorry about the sideways pic, don't know why that happens.

Thanks guys, at this point I'm thinking I'm going to go with the KRSC 46. Seems to be the best bang for the buck and not to crazy big to roll around my shop. But gotta get those 4 swivel casters, that's a must!

That's actually my only complaint about my cart is it has 4 swivel castors.

Casters are cheap for the KRSC/KRA boxes. Just buy 2 if you have to and swap them out. It's more of a pain to roll around with 4 swivels but in my case you can easily fit into tighter places with them. Same deal with an extra handle if you have to buy one.

Thanks guys, also looking into the JSC series carts Matco came out with, thinking JSC480 or JSC750. The 750 is huge haha but seems like a killer deal, can snag that for $1200

So this is the deal I got from my snap on guy, 400$ credit on my beat to hell KRSC33 (what I paid for it from my old matco guy[emoji13] used) and $800 cash down. So 1765-400=1365+800 cash down=565 and paying on my truck account at $60 a week. Sound like a decent deal?

It's a Snap On KRL1056C in black. It's 29" deep, 44" tall, 35" wide and has a 3600 pound load capacity.

I have it loaded out the *** and regularly use it to drop fuel tanks. sub frames and for use as a pack mule to move engines and transmissions around.

lol yeah I know, it kicks ***! I took that pic when I first got it and added the other swivel castors and second handle a couple weeks later. This thing holds the junk!

There's a smaller version of it too. The KRL756C 24" deep, 40" tall, 35" wide but same load capacity.

That sounds more my size there, would prefer 20-22 deep but sounds good

My problem was most carts have a 400- 800 lb load capacity and I can max that out pretty easy with tools, parts, and forget pushing a transmission across the parking lot between the shop buildings. Most carts had me hunched over working out of them because they're too short. A small roll cab solves all these problems. I don't like sliding tops either, I'd rather have the wide open work surface.

That's agreeable, but I'm 17 as a C tech at my local STS. ( chain tire/auto place if your not from the East Coast) and we have not a whole lot of square feet, but have 8 functioning bays, and we don't have our own set bays, so we travel from bay to bay, I want something with a good footprint, but not a full size box, due to our shop being kinda cramped

Rodger that, Yeah I actually have three dedicated stalls with one being a build area with teardown benches, parts washer and press that I move between. Except for the occasional trip to and from the truck shop with the big rack I mostly stay put.

How set are you on having the top compartment with flip lid arrangement? If you're not too set on having this arrangement then in my opinion you'd be better served by a smaller roll cab with similar dimensions to the KRSC46 you are looking at. That KRSC46 is pretty big for a cart. Several of the younger guys at work have them. They are nice boxes for sure though. Notice I called it a box and not a cart? :D

Not 100% dead set on the flip lid, but I like the dimensions the 20 deep by 40 wide. But wouldn't mind a small roll cab about the same size with a stainless top, and preferably 6 drawers. Any suggestions?

To me the top compartment of a cart was always a junk collector. It always seemed to fill with a slurry broken parts, hardware, tools and paperwork.

There's a KRA series box with those dimensions or close to them. Hang on a sec lemme see if I can dig it up on Snap On's site...

Thank haha, and not for me as much, my OCD kicks in hard when it comes to my workstation. My cart now uploadfromtaptalk1452661013706.jpg won't upload any better pictures

Here's a pic of one I used to have before I got my current one. It was well loaded with tools and as you can see was tough enough for whatever else. It never protested once no matter how evil I got with it bouncing across the pavement seams in the lot.

Wow, that's pretty much perfect, same specs as the KRSC46 for the most part, and can still slap a stainless top on it. I think I'm sold. Not to mention I can get it on my student discount for $925

Qualifies for the student discount? Definitely worth it then. The good thing is a box like that will carry you well for a good long while, then when you outgrow it you can either add to it (top box, side boxes) or take it home and use it there and upgrade at work.

Yeah, or KRA boxes or even some KRL boxes aren't bad priced. Can always get a bigger stationary and keep this strictly a cart.

For me a cart must have 4 swivel castors.

I had a Snappy single bay KRA bottom come through the shop that I though would make a great cart.

To the OP, your deal sounds ok but I know in the Baltimore market, $800 cash will buy you a real nice used Snappy cart pretty easily. See them about once a month or so. I have bought several for less for resale. They sell easy, you just don't make a lot on the flip.

I agree, a cart has to have 4 swivel castors. I swapped to all swivels on both my last two roll cabs that I used for carts. That and a handle on both sides which was easy because my main box has left and right side lockers so I just used the handle from it on my cart.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow NE person.

I see you're working with Frank and Billy, both good guys.

I like the roll cab idea with the 4 casters. Is there a new Matco guy in the area? I know Luciano went under or was about to and see you got a price on the jsc750 for like $1200.

Nice to see a fellow New Egyptian haha. It's 1200 through my student discount. But looking into a KRA4107. Another member turned me into this. Same size as the KRSC46 but I can get a stainless top and 7 drawers. As far as Luch and matco, Nah. He went under a couple months ago. What shop are you working at?

I work out of my house. Left the field when I was younger and just mainly DIY and work on family stuff.

That's not a bad deal on the Matco cart. The new SO kid (Mike) seems okay. he's an electrician by trade then bought the route. Better than the guy we had years ago.
