i'm running 2.2.2.2 from sub panel to my main panel. my ground wire is not long enough to get over to the ground bar. can i screw a lug to the side of the box and ground the sub panel to the side of my main panel (on the inside)?

Thanks!
Chris

Yes, like in the pic, just make sure you scratch the paint off where the lug is going to sit, to ensure a good connection.

Thank you! The pic is my actual box, i did not scratch the paint off but i can do that easy enough. I'm going to post some pics of the rest of the job for a second set of eyes.

two other questions, for the experts.

The sub panel i bought came with ground bars mounted directly to the box, is this normal? i expected the ground bar to be isolated, and to have to buy a bar to mount to the box.

I assume because both of my ground bars are mounted directly to the box that i can use both, not just the one with the ground wire secured to it?

Thanks again for all help!

Chris

Yes, the ground bars mounted to the panel is normal and fine. U never want an isolated ground bar unless of course you are doing isolated grounding...yes u can use both bars...

What u want isolated is the neutral bar in a subpanel that has a 4-wire feeder...

Make sure the neutral bars in your panel are isolated from the enclosure and the ground bars...check for bonding screws...

In your main service panel, neutral and ground should be bonded...
