Another unknown (to me) tool question

The attached tweezer like screw driver handled tool is fairly small (3 inches long) and only has the word Patented stamped on it at a sloppy angle.
I would think it would be a screw holder for staring screws except why the L shape and the part of the L that sticks out is only 5/8 inches long making it a tight fit to hold this tool and use a screwdriver along side of it.
Perhaps it is just something I have never seen before and someone here can inform me of its use. Thanks in advance.
