About 2 months ago, for $250, I picked up a 4' x 9' x 1/2" steel plate and a bunch of 2" 3/16 square tube and some other scraps of steel from a guy on craigslist for my Welding/Work Table build. All the pieces had been sitting in the guys repair shop for a decade, so most of the pieces had some surface rust. Fortunately there was a little overhead chain hoist on trolley and the plate had an eye already welded on it, so I was able to load this monster in on my dump trailer.IMG_20210424_143226439.jpg

I was originally planning on a
3' x 6' table, so i started out cutting 3' off the length with my plasma cutter, but it didn't come out as neat as I thought it would. Also the plate had been sitting for a decade leaned up against a wall so the 9' edge had some deep rust pitting. I ended up bringing to plate to a water jetting shop. The guy removed about 3/4" on the ratty 6' edge, and made nice clean cuts on all 4 sides and radius corners. Really happy how the top turned out. Table ended up being about 46" x 6'.IMG_20210623_060615756.jpgIMG_20210424_171158922.jpgIMG_20210424_154338088~2.jpg

Cut the 4" sq. tube to size for the legs. Welded coupler nuts so they are inside the bottom of the legs to accept the allthread that feet are on to be able to adjus the height and be able to level the table.IMG_20210508_194840568.jpgIMG_20210508_212016803.jpgIMG_20210520_132123128.jpgIMG_20210520_140739444.jpg

The plate came with two 2" sq tube rectangles already welded up to be used as frame for the 4' x 9'. So I cut down to size and rewelded to fit. I plan to eventually have retractable extensions, so I drilled 4 holes and welded 5/8 nuts to be able to secure 1 1/2" square tube inside of the 2" square.IMG_20210515_145722509.jpgIMG_20210531_170446935.jpg

Originally I was going to build table with some sort of retractable wheels, but decided to go with adjustable legs and just use my pallet jack to move it around.

Made up mounts for Vise and Belt Grinder, and flat stock for the angle ginders and F clamps.

Very nicely done! I really like your design. Great ideas and inspiration for my build. I am planning something a bit smaller and I will likely add wheels in addition to the leveling legs.

What belt grinder is that and are you happy with it?

Thanks, it's a Norse belt grinder, I love it, would say it's probably one of the most useful tools I own. Theres a bunch of companies put their name on that same grinder, all made in the same factory in china.
