An upcoming auction in my area has this tool listed. It looks like some kind of rivet press but has an electric motor connected to something that I don't recognize. The press looks like maybe it has a foot operated lever. The guy that owns all this restored old Farmall tractors as a hobby. Relining brake shoes or something else? Could it be adapted to squeeze aircraft rivets or would it be worth messing with?

The grinder part is for after you remove the old brake lining, you lightly grind the surface on the shoe to clean off any rust or corrosion, before riveting on the new lining.

Thanks guys. I was hoping I could make it work with up to 5 size rivets. I thought something like this being a floor model and foot controlled would be handy. I'm going to the auction so who knows, I might buy it anyway if it goes cheap.

That's an antique for sure. Another thread on page three today is about an Ammco Safe Arc grinder that would go with that. The grinder as someone else mentioned is just to clean off the old steel core before you rivet the new linings on, not for arcing to fit a drum. Not much use for either of those tools now days unless you are working on all drum brake cars such as 30's to 60's models. Even then finding linings is going to be a problem.
