This is The Garage Journal where we take pride in ruining a tool of any sort in the name of getting the job done

Perhaps someone welded that onto a the fireplace tool to be able to get that 10mm socket into a tight spot in the engine bay instead of putting the car on a hoist and going at it from underneath.
