Doing my usual search. I found this lathe. Never heard of the brand. The asking price is $475. I'd like to offer $350. If anyone thinks that is too much speak up. Just keep in mind. lathes around here go for double what they do up north and north east. I just don't want to buy a turd. Also, is there anyway to re work this thing and get that obnoxious motor stand relocated? It seems all the older lathes I am finding have a huge motor mount on the back. Can these not be mounted under the bench?
thanks,
Chad

Bud I am not excited by that machine
Condition looks rough and it is a small one
I'm thinking $200 but that's just me

I need better info on that machine but you may be able to get the flat belt to go more straight back and the motor below that....but who knows

I have a way nicer and larger machine I'm selling for $650 but it would have to be shipped to you....or you could come pick it up and I will include a beer in the deal

I'd keep looking, personally. Dalton lathes are VERY old. That is an extremely basic machine. I know you do a fantastic job of refurbishing equipment, but that is going to be a bit more intensive to get it back to precision status. IE, may need grinding and scraping. Just my 2¢

I don't think that one will be able to be mounted under a bench. That is a flat belt machine, designed to be run from an overhead an intermediate line shaft.

Here is the Lathes.com page on them. The only thing I can ever remember about Dalton is super old and crazy combo machine.

Thanks guys. I'll keep looking. It is near impossible to find a good lathe around here for less than $800-$1000. I don't have the room for a large lathe so I'm looking for a bench top to get me by. 99% of what I will be doing will fit inside a 9x30. I'm even starting to look at newer Jet and Grizzly stuff. On another note I found a Smithy Mill/Lathe in good shape for $1500. I just don't have that much cash and can't project when I could.
