Any idea what this is? i'm guessing it might be part of a machine, rather than a wrench - but not sure.

The hex hole in the center is 1-inch across flats.

Here’s another whats this. We found these cleaning out my wife’s grandfathers place in the German Alps .
He worked on a cog rail train from the 1920s doing track work.

Back over 100 years ago they used those gimlets, still used today surprising enough a set of 7 will set you back $16.95 plus shipping...

First or one of the first tools I learned maybe when I around 7 or 8 years of age from my dad.

Self tapping screws killed them, but a fun tool all the same!
