I wouldnt pay more than $100-150 if you really had a hardon for it, but then again, Id rather pay the extra $100 or so for a Powermatic, WT, or other real DP.

It looks like a generic Taiwan DP in decent shape. I'd say $150-175 is about right.

16 speeds and table elevation are "must have" features IMHO which it has.

Where would get a base stand for the "commercial" one?

I did a bit of digging and it looks like a model 2600 Helmet Head bench model press. I think that model came out sometime in the 1940's. Sounds like it's a very stout 15" drill press. I'm not sure what the quill travel is.

So to answer your question, to get the base, table and top for the press might be tough. There was a floor model that I think was identical so parts from that should fit the bench version.

I'm guessing Zimmerman is a pretty long drive for you?

Hopefully sombody who knows more about these will chime in. I'll be near the U of M next weekend so it wouldn't be too far for me to go look at it. But if you get it I won't be disappointed. Looks like it's going to take some patience to get this one back to original.
