Another Which Compressor Thread

I’m looking for a new compressor for home use and need some help. I currently have a 2 gal Campbell hausfield that is extremely loud and unreliable. I’m looking for something with a bigger tank, and a little bit quieter. I’m not expecting quiet, but just bearable. It will be mostly used for airing up tires, running a pin nailer, very light impact use, etc. Just your typical home owner use. I would also prefer something somewhat mobile so I have the ability to roll it out into the driveway if needed. What do y’all think?

Check out the California Air Tools compressors if you want quiet. Other than that, get an oiled compressor if you dont buy a CAT compressor. I really like my Harbor Freight standup. Its not quiet, but quieter than most direct drive.

Look for 30 gallon, 1.5 - 2HP, cast iron pump, belt drive, oil lubricated, portable and dual voltage.

They come in various brand names but I believe most are made by CH.

IMHO they're the sweet spot for home DIY as long as you're not running a body shop out of your garage. They're also very quiet.

The regulator they put on them is pretty crappy but easily upgraded.

I bought that 30 gal, Home Depot Husky belt drive like posted above, for our motor control building,I use it to help clean dust from panel mounted AC condenser coils and VFD heat sinks. It's a nice quiet little guy, It would work great in a lighter duty garage application.

Any recommended brands? I would definitely spend a little extra money if it meant better quality, better warranty, etc.
