Another Wolverine Sucess Story

Enclosed are several photos of my Christmas vacation project. The vacation project was a Epoxy floor at a my South Florida Town home. Project was completed using Wolverine Floor product from Alpha Garage. FRED's support throughout the project was excellent. I have previously done a Devoe Epoxy floor in Wisc. I found the additional support from Fred's documentation and emails very reassuring during the project. I really appreciate the addition support I got from Fred at Alpha Garage. From start to finish it took 4.5 long days. Prep work took the first couple days.

I didn't want to stir the pot with the HOA using acid etch so I used the safe 921 organic etch from Wolverine. The 921 Organic Prep seemed to work ok, but I have to tell you I believe a Muratic etch works better if you can manage the surrounding enviromental effects.

Products used
921 organic Prep etch
1921 integraflex joint filler (also used for small chips)
1101 bondtite -1.5 gallons
1184 topcoat - 3.5 gallons -Sand Beige
10-12 lbs delco flakes ( Ivory, Autum Tan, Brown, Terra Cotta)
2254 Endura Shield topcoat - 1.25 gal

One amazing things to me is the Wolverine product coverage exactly matched with what Fred listed for the Wolverine product literature. This is the first paint product I have bought in years that provide the coverage they advertise.

I used the sand beige epoxy. I used about 12 lbs of Deco flake colors are Autumn Tan, Ivory, Brown, and Terra Cotta for my 450 sq ft.

Floor looks great~

Sometimes I really wish my house entry door was on the ground like yours. The stoop/steps potrude so far into the bay with my door being 3 ft off the slab..

Looks like you did a great job, I still have to get my done at some point if I can find a time to get all the junk out of the garage for a few days.

That looks great... everytime I come close to pulling the trigger on race deck I see a nice epoxy floor.

I know what you mean I have considere race deck as well. I have always suspected maintenance with the race deck will be more than a high quality epoxy floor.

How did you manage to work around/under the hot water heater? I'm curious as I have a water softener that would be impossible to move without cutting copper pipe.

I am very curious about this as well. I will be starting my project next week and have a water heater I need to deal with.

Water heater is one year old. I was lazy and masked and went around it. I saved enough material to match it when the water heater fails someday.

Fred, I'm looking at the Alpha Garage website and notice that these deco flake colors aren't available anymore. have you guys changed the names or were these flakes not obtained from you. I'd love to replicate this floor (or at least as similar as possible).

Actaully the colors on the site are from the old catalog. We're having major issues with the web firm - it was a small company that has had personnel issues and that's effected the site. Looking for new webmaster as I type.

As noted earlier the top coat LiquaTile 1184 is "Sand Beige", and the DecoFlakes are an equal mix of Terra Cotta, Brown, Autumn Tan and Ivory, and hot-toys' color combo is still available. In fact that DecoFlake combo is now officially christened "Hot Toy" (I just hope I don't have to pay him royalties).

Earlier he mentioned that he used about 12 lbs of the flakes, we sent 20 lbs total, so I don't know if he withheld some or not. If just 12 lbs were used that's about 0.025 lbs/ft2, if the full 20 was used it'd be 0.044 lbs/ft2 (or 2.5 lbs per 100 ft2, and 4.4 lbs per 100 ft2 respectively if you like doing your math the French way).
