I'm thinking either a really old butter churn paddle, or possibly a brake pedal for one of those two wheeled one horse buggy's? :dunno:

NEXT!

Prosthetic putter attachment for a pirate golfer with a peg leg. My uncle had one just like it.

Not nearly beefy enough to be a mortise ax.

But it does have what appears to be the remnants of an edge on the edge of the "Blade" facing the "handle" So possibly a specialized draw knife or shaver for maybe wood gutters?

It has to be a gardening tool - for bulbs. Either that, or it is the world's worst hole saw. :D

That was guessed in the GS thread; that end is for a handle, the hole is to secure it, I'm reasonably certain of that... The other end is the business end... (See my last note)

Oh and the seller had no clue what it was for either, so the daughter unit and SWMBO said "perfect!"

I was thinking garden tool as well, handle goes in like you suggested and the business end is for rutting up the dirt. :dunno:

It's called a shoe.
It has a long wooden handle that goes in the circle and is pinned through that hole. It's for lifting doors and sliding under things. I think there is a large version of it that people wedge under barrels or something.

That makes perfect sense! Nice call Duck.

Often stuff like that may well have started life as something else, could well have been a hoe and when it was too worn out to do that job gets reforged by the local blacksmith or the farmer into something else.
