I put two coats of Rust Oleum Epoxy Sheild Pro and one clear coat on my garage floor last fall. Yesterday, I noticed a few ants on the floor where my wife keeps here work shoes (she works in a bakery and there is sometimes food stuck to the bottom). Does anyone know if a regular ant spray like Raid will adversely affect my floor? If so, what do you suggest?

Spread boric acid powder around the foundation of the building and that will eliminate the ant problem. Just make sure that you spread it thin, and that your children don't get into it. When the ants get the powder on their feet, they will run them through their mouthes, and ingest the powder. This will kill them, and then no more ants....

No kids here but could be a problem with the dog. She sniffs anything and everything and then sniffs it all again.

Where would I get boric acid if I decided to go that route?

Boric acid is the cheapest and safest way to get rid of ants or roaches. The ants injest the powder, it wipes out their digestive process, and they DIE!!! :bounce: The best part is then other ants come, along drag the dead ants back to the colony, eat them, and then THEY DIE!!! :bounce: It will usually take a few days and then no more ants because they're ALL DEAD!!! :bounce: I hate ants, especially carpenter ants ( can you tell), and boric acid really does work well. I've found it at any hardware store, sometimes its sold under the brand name Roach Pruf. Make sure you get the stuff that is 97% or higher boric acid. The last time I purchased some it was $3.97 for a 1 lb. container. If the ants you have are the small " picnic " type of ants, some of those small ant traps placed near the shoes should work fine. Now if you have a BIG problem with ants, use cypermethrin wettable powder or a cypermethrin based product to kill the little SOB's. It may not be permitted in your state, but there are ways around that...
