I installed D rings on the roof of my new 16 foot tall garage. Of course, no way to tie off while installing them. I still have to climb up to the peak to clip on.
Throw a line over the garage and fasten somewhere on the other side.... and use a rope grabber or a Prusik knot to secure yourself to that line while going for the D rings.

Just not the car. There is an old story about the guy tying the rope to the car bumper.

Wife jumps in car and drives off dragging the guy over the roof and down the road.

Might take a look at ATSC 3.0 before investing a bunch in an off air antenna. FCC is considering it and some entities are pushing for encryption to be approved. However, if it goes thru with encryption, off air stations are planning to charge for the encryption keys within a short period of time (2028) from the approval. Signal will be free, decryption will not be.

Funny how it is going to come round full circle with the ATSC thing. Twenty years ago the game was to try and snag Dish, DirecTv, Internationals with an antenna (a dish) and hack it with a card or downloaded key run through a STB. Same thing is going to need to be done for locals soon  Bring it on. Miss those days.

Living west of Ohare airport, I am about 30 mile from Sears TV tower skyscraper but can actually see it from my roof!
But my home is a lower ranch and I loose about 30 channels leaving the antenna in the attic. I get around 124 channels. Now dazes, these "digital" antennas are pretty small and windy days are NOT an issue anymore.....

Antennas are not "digital". They could care less if the signal is digital or analog.

They are sized to their dipole antenna element being close to 1/2 of a wavelength long. The directors and reflectors give good directional gain to the forward side helping collect what radio wave energy there is and maximize it. The only other major thing is impedance matching from the coax to the antenna

Most digital stations in the USA are in the UHF band/channels, only a few remain in the VHF band/channels. Most large market TV before 2009 was VHF and there fore for the larger wavelength needed larger elements(reflectors behind the dipole, directors in front of) in the yagi or logrithmic antennas.

The newer antennas would work just fine to bring in UHF channels if you sent it back in time.

Broadcast TV is usually for those that are cheap or just want local news. ATSC 3.0 only provides the possibility of pay per view, not that it will be necessarily be pay per view. I am highly dubious that those that still enjoy broadcast tv and put up with ads and such are going to pay to continue to use it. With cable, satellite, or streaming available as it is, why would anyone pay for a single channel?
