I picked up this old bottle jack today, stamped on it is HEIN-WERNER 12-A-1 MADE IN U.S.A.

I can't find any information or pictures about this specific jack so hopefully the group can shed some light.

I drained the old oil but there's no fill port 2/3 up the side like a normal jack. How do I fill this? Here are some pictures.

I drained it from where the screw is missing in pic#3. The last pic is the oil from it. Looks pretty bad like it may be rusted inside.

Under the handle it reads 12T2A or 12I2A33a13ea938cc4dd1a124e6ad3e6474c0.jpge2d65a7c3e3a043244ed706d8f7161ae.jpg4340dfd03ca8cf921b4b669358a09fab.jpgaa848f00dcdcd8bea850c5b86d725e1d.jpg

Here's a couple links to Lazzar's, which has the largest selection of hydraulic jack docs I've seen on the web.

Main page for jack diagrams, etc:
https://www.hcrcnow.com/drawings

Hein-Werner page:
https://www.hcrcnow.com/drawings/hein-werner

Here's a link to a parts diagram/manual for HW OLD STYLE BOTTLE JACKS, which I believe is correct for your jack. Note image at bottom of page three for filling bottle jack without upper fill plug:

That's fantastic! Thank you. I've taken this apart a bit just to clean them up. I've emailed a few companies to see if they sell a "rebuild kit" with gaskets and other guts. Tha is for finding that info[emoji1303]12d3a07b3fa5bba4e0a401b41846b217.jpg

Please keep us posted I just picked up a very similar Hein-Werner bottle jack at a garage sale. <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/187779662@N07/49949922301/in/dateposted-public/" title="20200502_153230"><img src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49949922301_6745808772_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="20200502_153230"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I believe what Made In USA posted is correct (thanks Made in USA): <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/187779662@N07/49950219757/in/dateposted-public/" title="Screen Shot 2020-05-29 at 4.48.44 PM"><img src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49950219757_8568f4bb22_n.jpg" width="320" height="256" alt="Screen Shot 2020-05-29 at 4.48.44 PM"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Keep this thread updated if you find a rebuild kit or have any other data to share. Posting your progress would be cool as well. For now the one I purchased is a project much later down the road. I did get some hydraulic jack oil at Menards though.

The HRCR place linked might put a kit together for you, but you may have to do the measuring of everything

Well afyer I filled it up with hydrolic oil, it sat for and leaked all over the place. I haven't found a rebuild kit for it either. It is still functional but it leaks a lot when it's under a load. I use heaps of jack stands when I do use it. I typically use my 12 ton sears jack since it doesn't leak206651b75d9b07f442b54e4f04a4b72b.jpg

I got a rebuild kit from Blackhawk for an old Lincoln 12T (had a faded NAPA label). I didn't even know the model or manufacturer so I emailed them some photos and they ID it for me. Works fine to this day. It did take some effort to loosen/tighten the big nut.
