Hi everyone,

I bought a box of rusty old tools at a yard sale this weekend and I'm curious about one item. It's an old tire tool and one side is marked "Clincher Tire Plow Co. Detroit" and the other side has the patent date "June 2, 1914".

I've been googling for awhile now and haven't been able to fine another picture of this tool, but I did find an advertisement for the company in the Detroit Free Press from August 23, 1914: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/119572965/

I also found a patent for a tire tool on Jun 2, 1914: https://www.google.com/patents/US1098488

Here's a few pics. Did I find something rare?

pretty cool. I assume it's for breaking a bead, or changing Model T tires? always cool to see tools with the city name cast into them. Michigan had lots of tool mfgr's in the day, Holland, Kalamazoo, Detroit all had foundries, Grand Rapids made a lot of woodworking machines (Oliver) due to the furniture industry once upon a time...
