I recently found a vintage Craftsman 1/2" drive 12 pt socket set in the box. It is the old style with the underlined "C" in the logo, and includes a swivel head breaker bar and a round bar to fit through the breaker bar handle for extra turning power. The sockets, breaker, and handle are all coated with some kind of varnish or something, which looks sort of brown. It looks a little like rust, but please look at all photos carefully, and you will see that most of it is a coating only. Also, the lens of the camera makes it look like the round handle is bent, but it is straight as an arrow (note that the lens also makes the metal box look curved on the bottom edge.)
The Craftsman logo is still on the lid (but flaking away a little bit each time I open it), with the matching underlined "C." (Sorry, but that photo reflected on the logo paper, and glared it out.)
The 10-point sockets go from 7/16" to 1", and all of them are marked with an "H-in-a-circle" symbol, except the 1" size, which is marked with a "BE" symbol.
The breaker bar also has the "H" symbol. No marks on the round bar.
Note how this photo shows that the socket is still bright metal under the brownish varnish-looking coating, which is slowly flaking off:
More photos of flaking varnish:
This may be the most complete, nicest condition OLD Craftsman socket set which I have ever found. It is now for sale for $25, PLUS shipping. I will work with you to find the most affordable, reasonable shipping available.
OR....you can pick it up for free at the CARS & PARTS SPRINGFIELD SWAP MEET & CAR SHOW in Springfield, Ohio in May, if you live close enough to come see it.
