I've got an old Craftsman tool box that I'm trying to find out information on. I haven't been able to find the model number yet - any ideas? Also, I need new casters for the bottom tool chest/rolling box.
As best I can tell, this is a set from 1949 or so. This was my grandfather's and he owned it since new. Right now I'm just cleaning it out and sorting through the tools. I've found some misc. receipts dating back to 1953, but no model number. I'd like to clean this up, repair/replace some of the tracks, put new casters on, get some dents out and paint it.
I don't have pics of the bottom box yet, but I'll try to attach the pics of the top box I have. I'll also get the dimensions tonight and add those here.
Any help is appreciated!

Hi, welcome. That box is from the mid to late 40's. A picture of it open showing the drawers would help.

I tried posting more pics when I posted the thread but only got one to go through - I'm doing this from my phone... I see I can post more pics with a web address. What website do you recommend I use?

Ok. I made it home and got more information. Sorry about the lack of information earlier - just got excited at finding this website and hoping to get some help with this and have somebody to share the appreciation of older tool boxes...

The dimensions of the top box are 13" deep, 14.75" tall, and 25" long. The bottom box is at my uncle's, so I'll have to get the info and pics of it from him. I'll post those as soon as possible.

Here are the other pics of the top box I have so far.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

That is an old one for sure. Mid 40's if not a bit earlier. Cool box.

Does your bottom box look similar to my bottom box?
So I finally picked up the bottom box from my uncle and it's not quite the same as yours. Mine has three drawers and then an open space on the bottom with one large folding door that covers all that.

sounds like you got the one that I have a pair of. Take pics when you can, I have two different designs of that box.

On your top box, simple green and a scrub pad... see which color you originally had. My bottom boxes, one was green, one was red, but both had gray drawers, but one had brown painted insides to the drawers.
