So I built these new doors

I intend to install this hasp with a lock but need some advice please

This "U" is for the lock but since it is essentially a nail I am conserned about it pulling out to easy . Either by thief or by use and time/wind

Should I just use a modern u bolt or is there another technic that I am not aware off?

The "hinge" end is similar but will work because it also has a hole for a bolt. If I use a carriage bolt it wont be as easy for a break in I believe

The “U” bolt is the right idea.
Bit don’t use the hardware store plated ones.
Get a car exhaust one at an auto parts store.
It will not be plated and will let you “age” I to match what you have.
Same thing for the carriage bolt at the other end.
