Good evening all, I was able to dumpster dive and explore some old long abandoned spots in the city today and luck would have it I saw caster peeking out through a bunch of weeds so I pulled it and it was this thing. It was solid black when I found it but I gently cleaned it up a bit to reveal “NUTTING”. I collect a lot of old stuff but never heard of nutting nor have I seen a wooden triangle dolly. Very cool piece once I restore it. Luckily it hasn’t been outside long enough to rot the wood so it should restore nicely. It’s wild, antique industrial stuff is my favorite thing to find in the wild and I’ve found hundreds of pieces over the years but every year I’ll learn of a new company that operated back then that I’ve never heard of. Just goes to show how people were real entrepreneurs and created a great product. Anyone familiar with Nutting?IMG_0285.jpeg

Great find! Look for 3 more & send them to me. What are the dimensions?

I just did a quick search & found some of their products. The old railroad & warehouse dollys. Lots of cast iron & wood carts, etc

Nutting is now part of the ACCO material handling group. (accomhs.com) I found this on their site

"A man by the name of Elijah G. Nutting designed the first prototype of the famous Nutting truck in 1891, a design that would go on to be used across the country throughout many industries. Today, Nutting continues to be the premier manufacturer of material handling equipment. Our customizable designs lend themselves to service countless industries and applications. Produced to the highest industry standards, Nutting Carts and Trailers are manufactured using state-of-the-art fabricating and in-house engineering services."

Sweet find. Wow they’re been around a long time.

We used their metal pull behind cars at work. Mother daughter they’re called. The cart separates from the car, making for easy transfer to different areas.

Finished product. Little ******* was filthy. All the hardware took a good bit to get clean, wish I could’ve gotten the wood a little cleaner but I think it looks better and I’ve erased a couple of labels making that mistake years ago.

Nice work! Looks great. A few years ago when they finally shut down Hangar 90 at Lakehurst, there were dozens of them laying around stacked on top of each other with old tricycles and other vintage flight line stuff. It all got trashed! Makes a grown man cry.
Yep, I think about all the good stuff that ended up in landfills over the years and it’ll make you cry. Like all the old antique hardware that used to be in old houses, tiles, glass etc. That’s why I’m grabbing as much as I can now
