I've had this antique thread plate for quite a long time. It was made by Thewlis & Co of Warrington, Cheshire, England over 100 years ago. Very well made of high quality steel which only shows light surface rust. The individual threaded holes have no sizes marked and I don't know what the significance if the 12 is. I suspect that the threads are Whitworth. The plate is tapered along its length.

Thewlis & Co ceased to exist just after WW1 and so this plate is a real antique.

Typically with these, the 12 is the style, and it is aimed at let’s say watchmakers, and has sizes they commonly used.

I have a couple of J.M. king like these that are variable diameter.

I thought the Benj Allen catalog at ITCL Had some, but not finding them quickly. Now found

Look up on graces guide Thewlis & Griffith for the Warrington connection.

I have a small BA Tap & Die set.

It features the date of 1918, maybe the 12 refers to 1912?
