Hi folks,
I’m trying to identify this Craftsman-branded vise. It has a tin plate that reads:
CRAFTSMAN
?? 9E6.97 RED then reference US and patain
From what I can tell:
- It looks like a Columbian-made model, possibly from the 1930 or 1940’s
- “RED” likely refers to the original paint color.
- “9E6.97”, which is hard to read, might be a Sears stock or batch code, but I haven’t found a match in any catalogs.
Below is a photo of the vise and plate from craftsman.
Any help decoding the marking or confirming the manufacturer/model would be appreciated. I’m especially curious if anyone has seen this plate format before or knows how Sears cataloged these.
Thanks in advance!
Gordon
