Antique Worth Keeping, or Old Junk?

These were my grandfathers old meters, and I'm torn if I should keep them, or just give them away?

I have a somewhat basic Fluke digital multi-meter for most of my work, so I'm not sure if these would ever get used...

Thoughts? If it makes a difference, I never met the man as he died a few days after I was born (ok, technically I met him once).

PS Sorry for the blurry cell phone pics.

Digitals are great for true rms but most will display ghost voltages too. I always suggest and do keep a analog meter around for certain kinds of testing. So my vote, keep it.

Keep the clamp on meter unless you already have one.

Toss the old digital meter

I'd keep a good analog meter on hand. Sometimes seeing a needle swing can be more useful then digital for certain measurements. (ex: basic continuity and checking capacitors)

Keep them! If nothing else they will look cool on the shelf!

I have new meters here, but 99.9% of the time I use an old one made in the 1970's. It's huge, but works well.

I vote to keep them. You have the best of both worlds. The digital meter is great for quick reads. The analog meters are great for tests that the digital meter responds too slow to accurately read.

If your analog meter has a jeweled pivot, and a mirror scale, it's probably worth keeping.

As long as you don't throw them away. A Micronta (much plainer than yours) was my first meter back in 1971 ish.:rocker:
