Today was an awesome day! One of my good friends had called on Saturday and said he was going to be at his dads shop today and for me to come and meet him there. I made the trip this morning, it's about 2 hours from my place in west Phoenix. He had several things set aside for me and as we were finishing loading, we were walking back to the shop, we stop and he pulls the cover off of what looked like a work stand. Well, it was an old anvil under the cover. He then tells me I would for you to have my grandfather's anvil. I was shocked! And very much appreciated his gift. I have not inspected the lower edges of the base but did find what looks like 2203 a space and parts of other lettering or numbers but cannot make out what they are. And ideas of who might have made this anvil??? Thanks very much for any info.

Nice...but what about the hit and miss engine behind it? That olds engine is worth more than the anvil..let me know.if it's for sale
Sawmill lol, the Olds is not on my sale list. I had taken it to a small car show at my neighborhood O'Reilly's last Sunday. I will look I may have saved a video if you are interested in seeing it running.

1928fxr I would have done that. If another opportunity comes up, please let me know. Also, if you wanted come see it and bring a few friends for a shop tour that can be worked out.

A picture of the ends of the Anvil under the horn and heel would be helpful to tell if it is forged or cast. West anvils were cast. I'm not sure I make out a W inside that 'O' but I've seen a couple West anvils and markings did vary on them. I have one marked only with a 'W' cast in low on the side between the feet. No other stamped markings. Ed.
